The North East Pennsylvania (NEPA) Miners are a minor league football team organized in 2006 bringing a first of its kind football team to the area. The Miners play in the Regional American Football League (RAFL) with home games at Scranton Memorial Stadium. The Miners' goal is to serve the area with year round community service while providing superior customer service and quality entertainment on Saturday nights during our football season. The NEPA Miners completed an impressive 8-4 inaugural season through the hard work of players, coaches and support from the entertainment team.
The NEPA Miners provide not only some of the best football games but sports a quality entertainment team. The players and dancers are very active in community service for our area. Our aim is to not just to improve football and sports in the area but also to help support many causes and organizations within the community. We participate in efforts to raise funds for local charities where the needs touch those we serve.
Our Booster Club, football players and dance team members help organize and operate programs for children such as punt and pass competitions and reading programs. The NEPA Miners management and team are the driving force behind the development and operation of The Charlie Wysocki Foundation, which benefits those with bi-polar disorder. We have been instrumental in organizing events that have brought many people from outside our area to NE Pennsylvania. The motion established in 2007 is already driving the efforts as we enter into the 2008 season.
I would personally like the opportunity to invite you and guest to the 2nd Annual Miners Night Out and Silent Auction. Our event this year will be held Friday Night March 8th at the Regal Room in Olyphant and include a buffet, live band and Silent Auction. Tickets for the event are only $20 and are available at the door or by contacting team management. This is an opportunity for area football fans to meet the NEPA Miners team members and management. The event serves as the team’s annual fundraiser and enables us to put the best product on the field and in the community.
This is a great opportunity for a fun evening out while getting some terrific deals on items donated by our sponsors and supporters while helping support your hometown team. Please contact me or visit our web site if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you at the auction.

New Brunswick NJ---The Warriors received their 2008 RAFL schedule today. The schedule looks to be challenging and will test the Warriors. The season starts with 2 home games against division opponents. First opponent are the NJ Lions from Old Bridge. The Lion are a new organization, but like the Warriors were last year, they are not new to the Minor League game. The Lions have many players with experience from other Minor League programs and look to be a good test to start the season. Next will be the Montclair Black Knights. The Knights are returning back to the football scene after being away for a few years and look to bring that tough Essex County brand of football to New Brunswick. The next 3 games will be a big test for the Warriors, with road games at the New York Predators, NEPA Miners, and the Shore Bulldogs. The first road test will be against the New York Predators. This will be the "Battle of the Runner Ups" as both the Warriors and Predators played in Championships games last year. The Warriors for the GSFL and the Predators for the RAFL. The next test for the Warriors will be the NEPA Miners. The Miners will be a tough opponent after coming to the RAFL from the Penn Division of the NAFL and having made the playoffs in the NAFL. The next opponent will be the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs also come over to the RAFL from the GSFL and also were in the playoffs there. The Warriors and Bulldogs split their games last year with each winning on the road. Both games were close with the final difference being 4 points total. After the tough road series, the Warriors return home to face the Hudson County Stars. The Stars are also new to the RAFL coming from the NAFL. Usually a tough team, the Stars struggled last year but are looking to reload with the talent available in the Hudson County area. The Warriors will welcome their first bye of the season on August 23rd. After the bye, the Warriors travel to Montclair to begin the second part of their division battle against the Black Knights. Labor day weekend will come to the league with no games being played that weekend. On September 13th, the Warriors return to Memorial Stadium to take on the New Jersey Spartans. The Spartans are a new team with the mixture of Newark Saints, Irvington Knights, & New Jersey Terminators. They are definitely are a tough test. They have the make up of New Jersey talent on their roster. The Warriors close out their home regular season again against the Bulldogs then travel to Old Bridge to battle the Lions. "Looking over the schedule, I see many different challenges," said Co-Owner Ed Gladney. "There are some very tough opponents and then teams that are a great unknown. We like the challenges that they present to us. With us playing the Lions to start, we can not look past them because they are a new team. The Black Knights will be another unknown for us. Even though they have had difficulties getting going in the past, they are in a good area of talented players. Recruit right and they could be one of the better teams in the league. Now after that start, we travel to the Preds, who played for the League Championship last year. They went undefeated in the North and were ranked in the top 25 throughout the season. Going to their place is always a challenge. Then we travel into Pennsylvania to take on the Miners. They are battle tested having played against some of the top team across the country and also they will be playing in one of toughest divisions in the league. Next we travel to take on one of our old opponent's from the GSFL, the Bulldogs. They gave us fits last year splitting our games. I know those games will be wars. Us both knowing each other and being so close. We both have players that know and talk amongst each other. Add in their Head Coach played for Ronnie and I with the Terms, will make it very interesting. Wayne always gave me the impression that we would eventually be a coach, but I just never thought o quickly. This is what we have been looking for, a natural rivalry." "I agree with what Ed has talked about," commented Co-Owner Ronnie Pagie. "those definitely will be challenging to start. The start of the season will give us indication of what we are going to need to do to have a chance at a playoff run. After that start, we hope to be in there fighting towards the end. Then the Stars can put us in a tail spin if we go by what they did last year, so you can believe we will not take them lightly. After our first bye, start our second run in our division so we will know about them and they will know about us, so games will be tougher. Throw in the Spartans, who will have plenty of experience and this makes for a very tough schedule for us. we can not take any team lightly. We are still developing ourselves to we have a lot of work to do. It's not like we won the league title last year, so we have a lot of work to do." The Warriors also announced their pre-season schedule. They start their mini camp April 5. They are looking for one scrimmage for the end of May but have a scrimmage set against the New Jersey Wolves Junet 7th in Plainfield. The time is to be determined. June 14th finds them traveling to Springfield Mass to play a game against the Western Mass Blitzin Bears. June 21th finds them in the Hub City Benefit game playing against the Long Island Ravens. Hopefully this tough schedule will prep them for what looks to be a very challenging 2008 season. "I know there may be questions on the teams we have scheduled for the pre-season, but this is what we will need to get us ready for the RAFL season," aid Gladney. "We are hoping that we will get us ready for the battles we will be facing each and every week during the season. Ronnie is looking to have us, as a coaching staff and team, ready to compete each and every week. I know I will be mentally ready and look forward to having they players ready also." "I want to face the best so we can be the best," said Paige. "That is our goal, just like any other program out there. We want to also give our fans the best games possible, they deserve that." With they support of the fans, families, and community, the Warriors are looking for a GREAT 2008!
